Thank you for the update. I understand that the developers are still working on the fix. I’ll wait for further news.
Best,
Thank you, Alin.
I appreciate you escalating this to the engineering team. I’ll avoid making further configuration changes for now so the issue can be investigated cleanly.
In the meantime, I’ll use manual sharing as a temporary workaround and wait for your update.
Best regards,
+1 — same issue here, and a third report above (kampenk35) confirms it. Facebook works, Instagram fails with “media status is unknown.” On my side I also ruled out the WordPress core version by testing 7.0, 6.9.4, and 6.8.5 — all fail identically. This looks like an active, widespread server-side issue. Hoping the team can investigate the Instagram Graph API step.
Update: I rolled WordPress core back through 6.9.4 and 6.8.5 — the Instagram share fails with the exact same “media status is unknown” error on all three versions (7.0, 6.9.4, 6.8.5). This conclusively rules out the WordPress core version. Since Jetpack Social’s Instagram publishing runs server-side (Automattic → Meta Graph API), the cause appears to be server-side. Could the team check the Graph API media-container response for my connected site?
Same here — I’m the original poster (jungle7). @jackmeat’s note is the key clue: this started right after the WordPress 7.0 upgrade. WordPress 7.0 was only released on May 20, 2026, so this looks like a 7.0 compatibility regression in Jetpack Social’s Instagram publishing.
Facebook auto-share still works; only Instagram fails with “media status is unknown.” On my side everything checks out (Business account, permissions incl. instagram_content_publish, clean featured image, Sharing Debugger 200, no duplicate OG tags, full disconnect/reconnect). Two independent sites with the same symptom and the same trigger (WP 7.0) suggests this is server/plugin-side, not configuration.
Could the team confirm whether WordPress 7.0 affects the Instagram Graph API media-container step?
