Nevermind. I thought I tried this CSS before and it didn’t work, but I tried it again and it did.

Yeah, probably should have posted that I found a wordaround. I’ve got a couple of invisible dots after each image and the sorter uses those.
I’m having a similar problem. Specifically on posts that include an image gallery shortcode with no other text. Adding random gibberish to the top of the post makes the error go away.
