I noticed that https://www.denofgeek.com/web-stories/ had a much better layout for the stories (I assume that is because it is a custom listing rather than the layout defined by the plugin itself)
This looks like a much better default layout that the current implemenation.

Right you are dcooney, for some reason the remote site was on http (although the ajax load was the only hint that it wasn’t using https.

It’s also best to use an origin pull CDN.
I’m not sure what that is, can you explain? I assume that Amazon S3 is and Cloudfront are reasonable solutions for a CDN.
This will be better behaved in the next release.

No, the unsuccessful transfer queue has 9 of those errors for different cache images files.
I empty the queue, and then the next day there’s items back in there.
I’d disabled the plugin CDN options months ago and recently tried this again.
