I have another variation / instance of this problem. If I post by selecting new from WP, everything’s fine.
However, my current post was written in Win Live Writer, saved from there as a draft and then published from WP and the post refuses to save the reference to the forum topic — meaning a new topic is created every time the post is edited!

That wasn’t clear. I don’t know why but my comment count is out of sync. In other words, posts with 15 comments show 2.
I’ve used your new batch function to generate a topic against each post and I’ve manually transferred many of the comments across by checking the option on the edit-post form.
I have two requests. (1) a way to automatically transfer comments to the associated topic for each post and (2) a re-calibration of the comment count at the same time!

Do you know of a way to generate a table of contents that only shows pages that the logged-in user has access to?
I’d be happy to pay for this if there isn’t an existing solution.
