I’d like to +1 this. I have have a website who the admins are members to the organization. If they use the OAuth method then it wipes out the administrator role for the WP site. You mentioned that users expires from time to time but I see this as a non issue because it authenticate with the system every time right? Check the status there and come back without being logged in or something. Even though I told the admins to user the WP login they still forget from time to time and if they are in the middle of updating something and lose their role it gets to be a bit inconvenient.
Maybe check if they have multiple roles and don’t update?
