Turned out to be some extra spaces in the .htaccess that were giving my server fits, but your guide to resetting plugins was perfect.

In reply to: User Role in WordPress DB TablesThanks, I _thought_ I had followed that one, but I’m beginning to think I have a rogue plug-in that is allowing access. I installed only from the registered list, but something still has opened a door.
I guess I’m back to ripping the thing down again, reinstalling from clean data and going back to no users for a little while to see if I feel like dealing with spambots anymore.
