    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I went on and deleted the plugin and then logged into my hosting cPanel and emptied the cache. Unfortunately my site is still experiencing the same problem. I forgot to mention that I checked the cron function before starting the compression in resmushit. I got an error message and this is when the site went down. I also just noticed that the CPU usage is maxed out at 100%, which is weird. What do I do from here?

    Thank you!

    Hi David,

Thanks for your quick reply. I have just recovered my site after I suddenly lost access to the admin area. I was automatically being redirected to a 404 error page. This was NOT due to the Updraft plug in since Updraft was not installed when this happened. I really do not know what the cause was since I did not install anything new. I re-uploaded htaccess and wp-config files from a previous back up using Filezilla, but it did not solve the problem.

But because of this crash, I want to install a plug in to back up and easily restore my site. I only had a limited back up before done through the security plug in and had to delete WordPress and re-install from scratch. So if you say that Updraft and Better WP Security (which I am running for security) work well together, then I will go ahead and install Updraft.

Thanks a lot for your input!

    Cheers,
    Kat

P.S. Would you mind recommending a good web hosting company?
