you were right! spam free wordpress and a google analytics plugin were causing it too.
I have confirmed that CF 7 is the cause of the bugs. i was running WP 3.2 with an older version of all plugins and the theme without an issue with the visual editor, but when i updated to 3.4.1 i started having issues.
