This is now resolved, I uploaded the same backup yesterda and the error message did not appear this time, so presumably it has worked and there are no issues.
Hi, apologies for my lack of response today, I’ve been at work. Yes I did update to Yoast v9.2.1 – activated it and the same thing happened (the same 5 pages disappeared and displayed the odd message). Whilst Yoast v9.2.1 was active and the site was broken I thought I might as well run the Health Check to see if I could find the issue.
With Yoast being the only thing activated in troubleshooting mode, the pages were still broken. I’m wondering if the issue occurred when I updated to 9.0.3 and I went through the Yoast configuration wizard and changed some settings. Perhaps that broke the pages, rather than the plugin itself? My next step is to completely remove the plugin and all of the background files relating to it, but I am nervous about doing that, so need to get in touch with a developer.
On the other point – if my host doesn’t offer PHP 7.2 is there anything I can do?
Thank you for the suggestion. One of the issues raised by the health check plugin was that my PHP is only version 5.2 or something like that, it was telling me to get my host to upgrade to 7.2 or higher ideally. Do you think this could be the cause of the issue? I’ve just logged onto the host and changed the PHP version to 7.1, that’s the highest they currently support. I will log back into the site and try activating Yoast SEO now, fingers crossed! Many thanks, anything else you think I need to know before I continue please say.
