I solved my problem it was my otp client/generator.
From one day to another – along with the latest updates of wordpress the code generator didn’t work anymore.

it looks like that the issues came with the latest Plugin Update and not with the wordpress update.
I just saw on one wordpress 5.7 installation that wp-otp doesn’t work, too.
Now I’m completetly confused why it doesn’t work suddently anymore
