For those who are looking to do this, a solution has been posted to the forum. You will need to follow the directions in the post at the bottom by ‘STI’ and create a child theme using the code provided. Works like a charm. Still working on finding a way to rebuild images and make them fill out the #content area but 2 columns with a sidebar on the left is achieved through this fix:

In reply to: [Simple Image Sizes] Show in Post Insertion not showing correct sizeI am having this same issue. I made several custom sizes which are larger than the “Large” size, however when trying to insert images via the media library they have all been reverted back to 640×427. I went back to check the settings under “Media” and all of my custom sizes are still there. They just keep getting transformed to 640×427 when viewed in the insert post area. I tried the advice above and edited the photos to “Original Size” in the advanced tab but this does not help. All thumbnails have been regenerated and the #content width for my theme is much larger than 640, so I am not sure what the problem is. Please help.
Yes Andrew, I am using the Sliding Door theme and as I stated above I have referenced the developer’s support forum with no luck so I am hoping for some assistance here. I have thoroughly read through the entire thread referencing this issue and followed the instructions meticulously:

I have also tried to register for the developer forum so that I could post my question there, but I have had no luck with that. It seems as if the forum is not accepting new members at this time or the system sending out activation emails is not working.
Anyway, I have almost completed the entire process but I am having trouble getting the main content to expand into the space that has been vacated by the removal of the second widget column. The forum suggests that adding a value of ‘width: 630px’ under #content would resolve this problem but it has not been the case for me. Anyway I can provide screenshots of my style.css or sidebar.php if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.
Hello, I have been trying to resolve an issue related to making the theme 2 columns. I have managed to remove the widget bar from the right hand side of the page but I have tried everything and can’t get the text to fill into the emptied area. I looked on the forums and followed the steps laid out in the posts by ‘molu’ ‘hijack’ and ‘rocksIT’. I’ve quadruple checked my style.css and sidebar.php files and even played around with the parameters with no success (the closest I got was when I removed the . I also tried to register on the forums with 2 different email addresses but I never receive activation email responses (despite trying to have them resent). Please help! Thanks.
