OK. So after some debugging, I decided to reset my password in the WP-Admin — to the same password as before (?) and it worked!

Very strange! But it works! 🙂

Simply use the Access Token with a GET request to /wp/v2/users/me after getting your access token. (Rather like validating the new token)

I must agree. Lack of mysqli support in WordPress is the one thing hindering/stopping me installing my own WordPress.

I have tried a few times to fix this, but can never get it all working.
