i got it working. not 100% sure how. but it works. thanks for looking into this.
using a theme called Arras i think it was heavily modded though by the previous designer.
it works fine with twenty fourteen. i know its a theme specific error. i’ve tested it wil all other plugins turned off as well. it worked fine until i upgraded word press itself about 6 months ago
