It was not my own idea to set the size to 900 x 600. Actually it was in a course I follow.

Forget about the second question; the image is displayed. It was my mistake, the featured image was not set.
There is another solution, I just read about that recently, but unfortunately I do not know any more where I’ve seen it.
The idea behind it: if on a local Apache server (maybe other servers too), the option to rewrite_module might be disabled.
Click on apache-modules, scroll down a quit long list till you see rewrite_module, and see if it is enabled. If not click on it.
After I did that, I could change my default for permalinks and all were rewritten.

Although the default link looks ugly, it works now.
