Its not permalinks unfortunately. The pages are not showing in the admin dashboard at all!
Setting permalinks to default, therefore, won’t make missing pages reappear 🙁

I’d rather not post a link – its to a clients site.
It feels like DB corruption, but restoring the DB doesnt fix

Did you try the second link or the first one.
The first link is always available – but when you click on the image to view it full size you get a 404. It is this 404 that’s appearing in-page.
