I will look at the filtering, thank you for that info and suggestion. I’ll let you know how I get on, and also if I spot anything that might help here.
Without going to deeper reasons on our usage case on a public forum: when I saw that ‘role’ was a sync option I had an ‘aha!’ moment and thought of using ‘roles’ as a way to identify the necessary subset of users to sync by using just standard WP functions, to try and keep things as clean as possible. Our site has enough weird, custom stuff going on and ‘less is more’ as they say. On passwords: whilst we could potentially live without password sync between the sites, our user base is very ‘non-technical’ so anything that helps avoid confusion (e.g. different site logins/passwords) is very welcome.
