    Thanks Shameem! That looks useful.

    Hi Saif,

Thanks for your response. It looks like that would be what I would need, but it’s overkill I’m afraid. All I need is for the vendors to be able to see how many of their products sold. I may just have to keep sending them manual updates for now.

That does, unfortunately, present some problems. First, I would prefer if the mp3 products that are not free would open when the image was clicked, but this would disable it across the whole website if I understand correctly. Second, the viewer should have a way to view the complete pdf without downloading.

The download button on the archives page does work perfectly. Perhaps WooCommerce products aren’t the best approach for this, I don’t know. It does have several pros though – it integrates very well with elementor, so customizing the archive is simple, and I also have download reports for my free pdfs.

So one question on your last response… I can’t find a setting to disable “open product page” as you mentioned in point #3. Where would I find this?

Hey that’s great info! I had seen some settings in the free download plugin that looked like they might help with my use case, but I haven’t looked in depth yet. I can’t say how much I appreciate your help!

Hey thanks a lot @linardsn! I very much appreciate the detailed, step-by-step instructions.

I’ll have to admit though, that I am fairly new to WordPress, and it would likely take me a while to work through that. I am also using Elementor Pro to build my website, and am also using WooCommerce to sell mp3s. I am experimenting with just simply putting the free pdfs in as products without a price, then using the Free Downloads WooCommerce plugin to show a download button instead of a Read more button. This makes the archives page easy, although it still doesn’t allow me to open the pdf directly from the product image. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get all the functionality I want with this, but I think it looks hopeful. If I can’t get it with this approach, I’ll look more closely at your procedure.

    Thanks again!

I did find some more info now and think I maybe have a bit of a better understanding. I wasn’t aware that you can add 3rd party blocks sort of like you can add plugins. Is this what would have been done in this template? I still couldn’t find that particular block in the search results.

I’m sure there’s lots of things that could cause that message, but in case it helps – we had that exact error on a site and it turned out it was caused by a new version of Elementor (free) not working until Elementor (paid) was updated as well. Like Steven said, plugins are likely high on the list of suspects…
