Do you have caching enabled? If so try to rebuild your cache and see if that helps. I too though am having trouble getting things to work correctly. I cannot figure out how to get the stars to show or comments.

Can you explain your solution a little better please? I am new to WP and while I do know PHP it has been a while since I have used it. The bigger issue though is I don’t yet fully understand how WP works (though I am working on that).
