  • @mfritch: you might want to report this as a possible issue with the plugin at its GitHub repo, to get the attention of plugin author himself. When doing so, you might want to add more details on your WP setup, so it would be easier to evaluate the possible cause(s).

As said above, I used to use Audit Trail successfully for many years, but never encountered what you describe. Such issue/bug, if confirmed, certainly needs attention.

Update: development of Audit Trail seems to go on (GitHub repo) again after a hiatus.

Update, so we all know 🙂 – development of Audit Trail seems to go on (GitHub repo) again after a hiatus.

Have been using the Redirection plugin on several sites for years mostly for the very same reason: to have automatic redirects for modified page URL’s. For a brief period in 2014, with one particular site I noticed that we lost the auto-redirects after (a) upgrading WP to => v3.9 while (b) the Redirection plugin was somewhat aged at this moment, due to interim hiatus on its development. Never really got to digging any deeper, just added it to our issue list w/ a worried remark that we might have to abandon the plugin as the development seems to have stopped…

However, as the plugin dev has continued actively on GitHub since Aug 2014, haven’t spotted any similar/further issues w/ auto-redirects when using more recent versions of the plugin + WP in recent months.

Could you please elaborate, what do you mean by “anonymous users”? If the casual visitors to your site, then this plugin does not deal with them in any way.

This plugin tracks the actions of users who have an account, i.e username+password in your WP install. There is an option under plugin’s settings to mark certain user ID’s as ignored. E.g if you would mark an ID “1” as ignored, then you won’t see any log entries for that user under Audit Trail log (except for the “logged in” and “logged out” actions). For example, you might want to not log your own actions if you’re the site’s main administrator. Or maybe you would want to mark your whole team ignored with something like “1,4,7” as ignored users.

Please note that as WP does not display user ID’s anywhere in the admin UI visually, you might have to check the URL’s of user administration pages, as an easy way to find out the ID’s of certain users.

On another note: it might not be the best plugin for your needs, as unfortunately it’s not actively maintained/developed anymore and has known issues with the latest WP versions. I hate to say that as I used to use it successfully for many years, but as issues started to come up with it, had to drop it on several sites.
