Tried inspecting the header, no HTML was output to that effect.Turns out it was because I was working locally. Connect button doesn’t appear unless the install is on a server. WordPress is the best!

Had a similar issue recently.
Basically you know when you have to sync Jetpack with a ww.wp.xz.cn account? When it does that it saves the link to your website to your ww.wp.xz.cn account for some STUPID reason.
Happened to me for a site I was working on locally. worked fine of course for me, but for anyone outside of our office, it was broken.
You will need to disconnect and reconnect jetpack to update the path.
