If this helps anyone:
We created a new custom UM role and assigned it to users who were previously marked as Subscribers. It seems like the form broke when using a WP default category (even though that previously worked).
I’d try creating a new Role and switching a test user to it to see if you can log in.
Ecample:
I changed my user “Test4” from Subscriber to a new role I created “um_supporter”
or whatever you’d like to call it- This reply was modified 6 years, 10 months ago by lgsstudios.
Hello,
I tested with RCP turned off. The issue remains. It seems to be linked to the timing the recent plugin update. Please advise.
Are there any other plugins on your site that affect password forms? We use Restrict Content Pro and their password form is what they use.
We found out that users now need Custom defined UM classes to login correctly. Being a plain subscriber seemed to cause issues (also with Restrict Content Pro turned off, definitely an Ultimate Member update thing).
Also, we were having that issue without the site running RCP so it does seem to be something in the UM code. Thank you for your time.
Hi, I resolved the issue. It seems that if a user is a default WordPress “Subscriber”, they have issues using the UM form but if you assign them a UM custom class, no issue. About a week ago plain subscribers were able to login no problem. Hope this helps anyone experiencing this issue in the future!
Also, I tested for plugin conflicts and removed custom code that could have maybe affected how UM login form is working, but sadly no results, still having the same error.
Thank you for the assistance!
We have the latest version. I already tested for conflicts, it’s unfortunately not just a plugin issue. I’m not sure if it is related, but I just posted this: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/urgent-all-members-unable-to-login/
There is some sort of pHp error preventing users from logging in, wondering if fixing that error will solve several things.
Thanks. We used RCP per the advice of Ultimate Member so that response is stressful/frustrating as a user (I know it’s not you personally, just a note for the company, I feel like I’m at a point where I’d discourage people from using UM versus other free or paid membership plugins). I resolved this issue. It wasn’t caused by Restrict Content Pro.
Really thankful to find this forum. I’m helping a client with their site that is using Ultimate Member. After this experience, I’m also feeling like it’s not a tool I’ll recommend to most people. The majority of my clients want something way beyond these style presets. I find it’s more effective & efficient to define my own user types and custom fields and code a view rather than battling their code. This plugin is not a time saver.
I’m wondering if Ultimate Member adopting Beaver Builder for their own site a couple of years back might encourage them to invest more time and resources into styling functionalities.
Thanks for the follow-up, it’s fixed now.
The problem was our homepage displayed a grid view of our users (with their pictures, names, and some custom fields). Pre-migration, when you clicked a user’s profile picture, you’d land on their profile page. Post-migration, when you clicked a user’s profile picture, you were redirected to the home page (so it was an endless loop of refreshing the home page).
Simple fix thankfully! When our server migration completed, our Ultimate Member settings were reset too. We were able to correct it by adjusting our Ultimate Member settings.
If anyone is struggling with similar issues (or planning to migrate servers in the near future), we also had to reset some settings that were defined in the User Roles and Forms tabs.
