In reply to: Twitter tools styletoo bad nobody answered. I too am wondering how to make this look better on my blog. Its a great tool but so plain jane. I know it’s meant to take on the look of your blog, and I’ve seen alot of the Twitter Tools look really great! Mine just looks like plain text with no formatting at all, not even lists. What am I doing wrong? (I use widgets).

In reply to: Blog in separate directoryOk, I think it’s fixed. Although I dont know how it will act when using another theme, but at least I got it working with this one. I went to “function.php” and changed the line:
if (($post->post_status==’static’
(where it says “static”, I changed it to “page”. That seems to have done the trick.

In reply to: Blog in separate directoryPlease someone help me? My pages are gone, and so are my archived posts. 🙁
I’d really appreciate some tip on how to repair this. Thank you..

In reply to: Blog in separate directoryUGH, these instructions arent very clear. My permmalinks are missing, despite having followed the instructions and updated them. My pages are all gone too. 🙁 Only the latest posts are intact.
So now?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Blog in separate directoryOk, I think I got it. I just went ahead and moved everything, and it’s working except for permalinks (so far), but I will now follow instructions for that. If this all takes, I will consider this resolved.
Still though…. getting a “500 server error” when changing locations in the panel is not cool. That was pretty alarming, and nowhere is there a warning that could happen.

In reply to: Blog in separate directoryUGH. 🙁 Now I get a 500 server error.
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
I didnt even DO anything yet. All I did was go to options/general/ and I changed the location.. when I hit “update”, I got the above error. And now I cant even get in to the panel.
WHY WHY WHY would the WordPress instructions above say to change the location on the options panel BEFORE changing the files for real?? Look what happens?! I’m really frustrated now. :'(
UPDATE: I can get to log in screen now, but it’s all just “plain”. I guess I should just go ahead and move the files as the intructions say? I dont know what to do, because I dont know if the changes I made in the options/general (changing location) took or not.

In reply to: WHERE is my .htaccess file????Not so “handy-dandy”. Links don’t even load.
ps: Sorry to sound so frustrated, but I wish you were more understanding of new people. Why pour through loads of docs (which I have for most of my issues) when someone might immidiately know the answer? It’s probably something simple, but how am I supposed to know? All I know is I used this about a year ago and I don’t remember running into all these problems.
Anyway, the links you gave me dont work, so I guess I am on my own.
pps: Also, there’s SOOO many “answers” in these docs, and it just further confuses me. One says “Oh the ht access is a hidden file and you won’t find it unless you go to CPanel”. I go there, per the search I did from the support files… only to find “nope, aint there”. Now someone else (you) say it doesnt exist and I have to create it. And hell if I know where or how.
So I hope you can understand how very frustrating this can be for a newbie.

In reply to: Would like a page with NO sidebarThanks! That did it! However, the “ghost” (table) is still there, even if invisible, so I can’t make use of the extra width. This is on “Freshy”. Not sure if it’s like that on other templates or not.
