Thank you for you response, using just Yoast has satisfied our need for adding meta tags to our site.

I found the issue, there was a setting in “Front Page Content > Columns layout for : Home” which must override the Page setting and was set to 1 column. The Page Content setting were not being respected.
Hopefully others do not have this issue.
