  • Sorry Heffa,

I don’t know how to resolve your issue. I came to this page looking for help myself!

    Best,

    Lisa

    Hi there,

I need help with a Baskerville-themed website I just started working on: https://asaui.net/

Why does the header have these 4 extra link icons above the main menu on the home page? How do I get rid of these?

    Thanks!

Thanks Kathryn! The CSS code was perfect – once again you have really helped me improve my site!

I will start a separate thread as you suggest about the issue of changing the color in the background.

    Dear Katherine,

Ok, at last I’m going to try to enter some CSS code to make my site lisakaborycha.com have one consistent font size on all the pages. Can you suggest what code I should enter, one that will be a good size for viewing also on tablets and other devices?

My main concern has been that when there is an automatic update that the changes will disappear or become in some way distorted. Is this going to be a problem?

And finally, if I try to change the colors of the background on my site will I rest messing everything up? I’ve been thinking for a while about changing the white lettering on the dark background. Is there a CSS code for this too?

    Thanks so much!

    Dear Kathryn,

Well, I think I have resolved most of the issues. I activated the Jetpack mobility feature and afterward tested my site http://www.lisakaborycha.com on Google’s tool and it was given the thumbs up. I continue to reformat all the pages to increase font size, which is laborious, but it seems like this will do the trick.

Thanks once again for all you good advice!

Thanks Kathryn, for the quick reply.

I guess there is no update for Pilcrow that addresses this problem?

Google noted 3 issues: “touch elements too close,” “viewport not configured,” and “small font size.”

Can you suggest a way I can fix these easily? These were flagged on 52 pages, so I’d rather not have to go one by one and change them.

I do have Jetpack, but I’m not sure how to apply it to this problem.

I greatly appreciate any suggestions you can make!

Oh dear, I can’t remember now how I added the search box – it was so long ago. It was probably through the child them with your help, but I can’t recall. Any suggestions about how to add the Twitter button there?

    Dear Kathryn,

Well, I eventually resolved the problem by copying the page into a text document and pasting it onto a new page and re-inserting the images. I will probably never know what the exact problem was, but anyway it’s working fine now.

Thanks for your help and support!

    Dear Kathryn,

Unfortunately I tried copying and pasting the information on a new page but I had then ha two non-functioning pages, not one!

It is such a weird problem – I will take your advice and try the general forum.

Thanks so much for all your help!

    Hi Kathryn,

I tried your suggestion and temporarily deactivated all plugins. I lost all my custom CSS, which I had to re-enter. (Next time I will remember to copy those somewhere before deactivating CSS plug-in!)

The problem is still there, however. There seems to be a bug in that particular page. What if I copied all the material from that page, deleted the page and created a new one? Is there a less dramatic solution you can think of?

Thanks so much for any light you can shed on this!

    Hi Kathryn,

Yes, I did clear my browser cache. Then I tried changing from Chrome to Internet Explorer and the same thing happened. The little circle just keeps turning and turning and nothing loads.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Dear Kathryn,

Today I think I managed to do the landing page thing as you suggested. Take a look: http://www.lisakaborycha.com/ On the far right-hand side is the drop-down alphabetic list of women’s names. Is this what you meant? Do you have any suggestions for improvement?

I do have one other small question for you:

Yesterday while working on my site one of my pages froze up: http://www.lisakaborycha.com/3-back-to-the-future/
It shows fine when you look at it online but I can’t get into it to edit it, the little circle just turns and turns when I try to load it. Do you have any idea what is causing this and what can be done?

As always, thanks so much for your help!

    Dear Kathryn,

The custom CSS worked like a charm – thanks!

I am still working on creating the landing pages. I will let you know how that turns out.

    Dear Kathryn,

Thanks for your response – sorry about adding to an old thread. Can you please remind me how to start a new one for next time?

I asked about widening the drop-down because then I could fit an entire name on a single line, saving space. In any case the alphabetical solution you suggested had occurred to me.

In order to create these “landing pages” do I just add menu items and arrange them as I did with the names in that appear in the drop-down or is there another procedure involved?

Thanks so much for your advice – I really appreciate it!

    Hi Kathryn,
I was wondering if you could help me with my Pilcrow drop-down menu.

On the upper right-hand side of my site I have a tab titled “Letters of Renaissance Women” http://www.lisakaborycha.com/letters-of-renaissance-women/ the drop-down menu is quite crowded and I would like to add several dozen more names to this list.

Is there a way either to create more space by widening the drop-down or by being able to visualize a longer list?

    Thanks!

    Lisa
