• Okay – did what you suggested and here the response I got!

Ooops POP3 connect: Error [97] [Address family not supported by protocol]

Any ideas?

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the post, I’m trying it now, but I don’t see much different here from what I had done, but I’ll do it all and see if it works or not! I’ll post the results here when I know them!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am completely, totally lost! I’m so lost at this point that I’m not even sure what questions to ask!

I’ve done what WP says to do – and get nothing! So what’s left? I wish someone who has the e-mail post feature working – without any plug in’s, hacks, and other stuff the non-techs like me can’t figure out – could explain how to do it in simple English.

Any takers or am I doomed to wander these dark halls of ignorance alone?? 😉

Thanks for the help.

I’m still lost and struggling but not giving up yet!

I don’t know why this has to be so hard! Are the coders for WP taking note of this and doing something to improve it? I sure hope so!

Here’s my latest error message

Ooops POP3 connect: Error [0] [Success]

I have no idea what it means.

Okay,

I read what you wrote Tim several times, and it occurs to me that I might not be using a POP3 e-mail program. Does anyone know if Horde is POP3? If not should I set up an account elsewhere like Yahoo, etc.? I sure don’t want to have spam posting on my blog, but I’d really like to get this working?

Thanks Pete,

I’ve only posted on two things and never had a answer yet – but I’m still hoping as I’ll be needing the e-mail feature this summer and fall!!

Okay – I’ve made some changes and here’s the latest error message I’m getting!

Ooops POP3 connect: Error [0] [Success]

Is anyone out there or am I talking to myself here?? 😉

You are doing far better than I am! I do have the whole e-mail address in there and am guessing the problem is the chron job, but who knows?

Here’s what my latest e-mail said about the chron job when it failed to work.

bin/sh: -c: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token newline'
/bin/sh: -c: line 1:
GET <http://MYDOMAINNAME.com/wp-mail.php>’

Anyone have any idea what the heck that means???

Hi Jeff,

I’ve been trying to make your advice work with my blog, but no luck so far. I’m not sure what the problem is but I would really like to be able to post via e-mail.

I’ve set the chron job up as you suggested, have given it my URL but so far nothing. One thing I’m not sure of is where does the e-mail address it needs to look at to get the post come in?

Sorry to be so dense, but this is all pretty new to me!

Thanks! – Louie

I’m trying to get my e-mail posting working as well. I did do a chron job, as well as I could at any rate. I keep getting this error message:

A message that you sent contained a recipient address that was incorrectly
constructed:

http://marshianchronicles.com/wp-mail.php missing or malformed local part (expected word or “<“)

Any ideas??? Thanks!
