In reply to: [Backup Migration] My staging site creation failedThank you for the quick response! I have a clarifying question about the staging sites.
Once a successful staging site is created, I can then go and edit that site, add new plugins, theme(s), delete things, add/edit users, etc….correct? This won’t affect the main site, right? Then once I have the staging site all setup and ready to replace the main site, can I easily switch the staging site to the main site and remove the previous main site and all its content?
Main reason I ask is I have another site with nearly 9,000 posts created in one custom post type, and almost 2,000 in another custom post type. It has paid memberships with 400+ members, etc. Lots of heavy lifting and some of the free import/export plugins I’ve found and used don’t seem to work the best. Plus, both of the CPT’s I’ve created have a ton of custom fields using Advanced Custom Fields, which has made my import/export tests not come through all that well. It may be easier to clone that site/create a staging site, and then develop the new site on the staged one and then have it take over as the main site.
Let me know your thoughts, I appreciate any advice and information.
