Problem solved.
I logged into WHM on my Centos64bit VPS as root, and from withing WHM I ran the EasyApache process, and in the advanced settings there was an option to recompile Apache (and PHP and lots more).
In there I found a checkbox for php_mysqli or something…
After it ran the recompile (about 3 minutes), and nothing was broken, the BackWPup now works GREAT.
With OS did you use on VPS?
My VPS is Centos 64 it. PHP is 5.4.???
I don’t know why MySQLi is not there.

BackWPup will not work on my site either because of the missing MySQLi php plugin. 🙁
I have a VPS and so am my own “host” and I cannot find a way to install it.
One site said I would need to re-compile PHP, but that is beyond me.
Why is it all made too hard?
