In reply to: 2FA to fend off unauthorised visitors?Despite the present ’emergency’, I think I should add the concrete event that arose my suspicion against the freelancer.
The right column of my site is used as space for some kind of mission statement. It also contains three titles, thereby subdividing the text into three ‘thirds’.
He had received the correct text from me via the chat box of the freelancer portal. Later, after finishing the site, I realised that the second title wasn’t there; in its place, there was a repetition of the first.
Drawing his attention to it and asking for an explanation, he wasn’t exactly eager to act, so I tried to find the spot in the account myself where to correct that. I found it and did what had to be done.
Hours later, the pre-repair situation was back. Upon confronting him with it, he seemingly re-established the correct looks after some time – without any explanations nor making predictions re the time-line.

In reply to: 2FA to fend off unauthorised visitors? Thanks for your very detailed response. Right now, there seems to be an ’emergency’: I found my WP site defaced, so presently I may not reply to each and every aspect that you mentioned.
The background: I had a feelancer to help me set up my WP site. The first thing was that he has the WP credentials, I use my web host to access my WP account. Upon asking for them, he was evasive – I still don’t have them.
His access data (or some of them) seem to be
admin
7Bt#p4s%V9So this would be the foremost issue: What is my WP account? And what can he do with my account data? How can I protect the account against him?
PS: After contacting the web host, it would seem they may have had a hand in it too. Their motivation: My very sober, not abusive or agitating contents is being misrepresented as ‘hate speech’. If this should be rather discussed off-forum, let me know how to procede.

In reply to: Trying to back up before updateThanks a lot, I tried with WPVivid and – got stuck, again.
It seems I managed to create the backup (see annex), <- no, can’t attach
but then after clicking ‘download’ it somehow gets lost: According to what it says, it should end in the download folder, but there doesn’t seem to be anything: Don’t understand?
