    Hello Threadi, thank you for putting your attention to this. I had seen the page “… debugging in WordPress as described here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/documentation/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ – ” however, since I am not a real webmaster or developer, but just a person trying to run a small business, I was concerned that I might make some, big error. Here are the errors that the site seems to attribute to the Jetpack plug-in. Maybe you will find them interesting:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Function name must be a string in /home/oldcarguy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/vendor/composer/jetpack_autoload_filemap.php:1 Stack trace: #0 /home/oldcarguy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/vaultpress/vendor/jetpack-autoloader/class-manifest-reader.php(68): require() #1 /home/oldcarguy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/vaultpress/vendor/jetpack-autoloader/class-manifest-reader.php(51): Automattic\Jetpack\Autoloader\jp9559eef123208b7d1b9c15b978567267_vaultpressⓥ2_2_4\Manifest_Reader->register_manifest(‘/home/oldcarguy…’, Array) #2 /home/oldcarguy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/vaultpress/vendor/jetpack-autoloader/class-autoloader-handler.php(112): Automattic\Jetpack\Autoloader\jp9559eef123208b7d1b9c15b978567267_vaultpressⓥ2_2_4\Manifest_Reader->read_manifests(Array, ‘vendor/composer…’, Array) #3 /home/oldcarguy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/vaultpress/vendor/jetpack-autoloader/class-autoloader.php(80): Automattic\Jetpack\Autoloader\jp9559eef123208b7d1b9c15b978567267_vaultpressⓥ in /home/oldcarguy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/vendor/composer/jetpack_autoload_filemap.php on line 1

    Thanks for the suggestions. I subscribed to Sucuri and seems to have cleared the Malware.

    Vijay, following up: As a test, I disabled the plugin, “Media Library Categories Premium,” and the “load more,” button appeared at the bottom of the grid.

    This brings up another issue. I find it very helpful to have sub-folders or images grouped by taxonomy. That is why I purchased and installed Media Library Categories Premium. Is there a better solution? Thanks again, Brian

    Vijay, Thanks for responding. I’m editing a ‘page’. In a ‘gallery’ block, I click “select images”/Media Library and a window opens. In this window is what I think you refer to as “media image container.” It is a grid of images from which to choose from (exactly 80). When I scroll down to the bottom of the grid (the window does not scroll, it is of fixed dimension). There is no button from which to load more images. Am I missing something?

    I activated Health Check which disabled all the plug-ins and themes and I attempted to insert images to a page filtering by date & it worked. The first plug-in a re-enabled as a test was “Media Library Categories Premium” and when I re-tried the test it failed. So that’s at least one issue. I had purchased that one because with the multitude of photos we use I wanted them categorized. However, what I’ve noticed recently and maybe it’s always been that way was that even though I could see categories in the media library, if I tried to insert photos from a page or ‘listing’ in the theme, there were no categories. I think in the past I would simply scroll down and find the photo but recently on scrolling down I found I only had access to the most recently uploaded 80 photos on the page and no option to view multiple pages of Media Library. This may be related to this same plug-in as well. I’m wondering if there’s a better plug-in for adding folders or other taxonomy filtering to the “insert from media library feature?” Any further help is much appreciated.

    Thanks, I will install Health Check and try it.

    Hi, `Thanks for your answer and explanation. Just so I’m clear, increasing the “allowed time for PHP processing,” is that done on WordPress or on cPanel for my host?

    As a follow up I spent quite a lot of time exploring this with HostGator and they basically said the reason for the failure was the same as what you said. I ended up upgrading my hosting package to a VPS as I just wanted to get this done conclusively. That is probably overkill and probably inserting the code as you suggested might’ve sufficed but I figured it was probably time to upgrade anyway.

    Steve,

    Thank you for responding! I was concurrently asking JetPack for help as well and some of their advice mirrored yours.

    What I did was activate theme Twenty-Seventeen and that brought my site back! So then I tried the straight ‘Automotive Theme’ (not ‘child’) and that works too! So the issue is the Automotive Child Theme. Now what? Support at Theme Suite has ended but I seem to remember (I don’t see the blurb now) they were prompting me to buy some upgrade which will include automatic updates and other stuff. I guess I could buy it again? Or, find that reference to the upgrade, do that and re-set support (?) What do you think? Would you still suggest the de-bugging routine?
    Thanks again,
    Brian

    t-p, No my Automotive Listings Plugin is related to my theme: Automobile Car Dealer Business Theme also sold by these guys: EnvatoMarket/ThemeForest/ThemeSuite.

    Mr. Stern, Interestingly a Visual Composer also comes with the theme I mentioned above. But I will look into the Visual Composer plugin as a possible issue as well.

    Thanks again to all!

    Thank you all for responding! I’ll answer/add additional comments for all here:

    T-P, Is there a reason to use FTP/ SFTP on the hosting site to remove the Automotive Listing Plugin? As a test I simply disabled it in WP and that error message went away and the functionality of the site came back (but then I get all sorts of code showing up as text on my pages so apparently I need this plugin – my site was built with it)

    kjodle, I disabled all the plugins and re-enabled them one by one and the only one apparently causing trouble is the Automotive Listings plugin.

    Mr. Stern, Please see the line above. May I ask what made you suspect Visual Composer?

    I think I am going to contact ThemeSuite and purchase the Automotive Listings Plugin again. That should reset my support window and hopefully those guys will sort this out – seems like the most efficient course.

    If this prompts any further suggestions please do not hesitate. Again, Thanks So Much!

    I figured it out on my own.

    As folks experienced with this sort of thing likely already knew, the code from the FAQ to have separate media categories from post categories, in the case of my Automotive Child theme gets inserted before the last preexisting “?” in the functions.php file:

    <?php /* Place custom functions here */

    [THE INSERTED CODE GOES ANYWHERE HERE]

    ?>

    At least, this seems to work in my case.

    OK, I got back to where I was by going to my Host Server and changing the functions.php file back to what it was before.

    This brings me to my original issue which is, from your FAQ, how much of this:`
    /**
    * separate media categories from post categories
    * use a custom category called ‘category_media’ for the categories in the media library
    */
    add_filter( ‘wpmediacategory_taxonomy’, function(){ return ‘category_media’; } ); //requires PHP 5.3 or newer`

    actually gets inserted into this:
    <?php /* Place custom functions here */ ?

    Do I lose the text:
    ; //requires PHP 5.3 or newer ? which is what I originally presumed or more?? Also, do I include the beginning */ or lose that too?

    Yes, I am a beginner at this and need it to be spelled out precisely please.

    Thank you, Brian

    OK, I found my functions.php file at my hosting site which is what needs to be changed back to what it was before. However I cannot open it on my computer. Do you know how/or what program I need to use to open a .php file?
