In reply to: Can’t find out how to edit using GymedgeThanks, Lisa.
Are you using a plugin to handle your courses or is it something-built in to the theme = I don’t understand the question. I seem to be using WP Bakery by default.
I contacted Gymedge. They said that because I didn’t purchase the product, they can’t help.
I eventually got someone to walk me through some of the backend. He told me that the courses and classes page could only be changed by going to classes. All news to me. All good now – well, kind of – but still won’t update on friend’s browser, still not working in the link on my Google plus page. I’ll persevere.
Best,

In reply to: Can’t find out how to edit using GymedgeDear Lisa,
Thanks so much for getting back. One of the pages I want to change is the Classes and Courses page. I want to update this to show what I’m now teaching. I want to change the three different offerings. I want to change the images. I can’t see anywhere to do this. I’ve deactivated Elementor and WPBakery but it’s still impossible to find the text or images I want to change. All that comes up is a bit of code and some metadata. I can screenshot the backend if you like. This is the code (I don’t do code):
[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1482472453642{padding-bottom: 80px !important;}”][vc_column][gymedge-vc-class layout=”grid_nopag” grid_item_number=”3″ image_size=”0″ slider_nav=”false” slider_autoplay=”false” slider_loop=”false”][/vc_column][/vc_row]Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Migrated website to Siteground: now can’t change pagesI doubt that very much. All the data will still be there if you don’t restore.
But I did restore. I didn’t have much choice.

In reply to: Migrated website to Siteground: now can’t change pagesThanks for your help. I do very much appreciate it. It’s extraordinary how much it riles me that I’m so stupid at this but I have to remember two things: humility is endless, and there are other things that I’m good at. I’ll have to leave this now. At least the website is back up. If you don’t mind me asking further questions, I will. I still don’t understand how to get my new ‘about me’ page to take over but as you say, deleting the old one completely will probably do the job – or, perhaps, I can just replace the text and image though that was the nightmare I got into the other day. Trying to amend other peoples’ work is like trying to unscramble eggs.

In reply to: Migrated website to Siteground: now can’t change pagesIt’s very straightforward if you know what you’re doing! I’ve already restored from two days ago. I don’t understand how to delete all plug ins and add back in one by one. I really don’t have time to do this. I’ll get someone to do it for me. I’ve lost the post I wrote and the work I did on the About Me page which took me most of yesterday afternoon. Hey ho. I’ve got to go. Thanks for reaching out.

In reply to: Migrated website to Siteground: now can’t change pagesThanks but this doesn’t help, sadly.
I came here for help and now I don’t know how to undo what I’ve done.
I deleted a load of plug ins because the site said that if I had inactive plugins it would be subject to attack.
I got a message from Jetpack which I did not delete to say my site was down and to get a security key from somewhere but I can’t get the key.

In reply to: Migrated website to Siteground: now can’t change pagesYeah. No. You really don’t want me to reach out. I’m miserable already. I just don’t understand what’s going on. I have paid two people to upgrade the site and I don’t understand what they’ve done. I really wanted five pages, home, about me, courses and classes, journal and contact me. When the last person changed it I had all these sub pages. Siteground migrated the site and it was corrupted in small ways which I thought I could fix – no donate buttons, links not working, some corruption in the text – but I’ve spent time I just don’t have battling to correct the errors and each time I just get deeper mired into problems. It’s really not simple from where I’m sitting.

In reply to: Migrated website to Siteground: now can’t change pagesI found the permalink and it says ‘about-me’ and I’ll check the trashed page to see if it says the same. I really need to pay someone to do this but I can’t really afford it. The courses and classes page I had to trash because it came up with a fatal error. One step forwards, two steps back… but I’ve said on the front page where I’m teaching. I do want a courses and classes page at some point soon, and to advertise my books, and consultancy work, but slowly, slowly (I’m 55…) … and keep smiling, eh?

In reply to: Migrated website to Siteground: now can’t change pagesOK. I cleared the cache but am stuck on the second step. You’ll have to forgive me. I can’t follow the link. I’m in the dashboard. The other thing that was driving me crazy is that it asked if I wanted to test Elementor as a site editor and I stupidly said yes and now I can’t get rid of it. But I can’t get past the second of your suggestions because I can’t find the url slug for About me. I’ll keep looking …
