I’ve finally got to the bottom after the update something triggered with the hosting company and they started blocking bots including google and Facebook. Apparently it happened on multiple hosting companies servers. There not telling me the reason for it as far as if its because of a wordpress update, yours, avada or they just did it because they can.
The sitemap issue was not them though I fixed that by completely removing it from yoast to another plugin then back to yoast later on after the next update.
Your solution doesn’t work with using Yoast. All your doing is scraping the information again and it comes up, thats normal. In my case that doesn’t work but it does tell me it most likely is Yoast causing the problem and not WordPress or Avada so thank you.
Hopefully a solution/update from Yoast will come soon!
I’m having the same problem using the Avada theme. The temporary fix doesn’t work for me. It’s also not bringing in the text or title either. I’ve got the Avada support team working on it but wondering if you managed to fix it and what theme your using?
I’m about ready to delete yoast and not use it anymore had too many problems the last few months with it deleting sitemaps etc.
To fix the problem try disabling the site map feature and reactivating it then click to see if it is there. Next time google crawls the index it should be fixed I hope.
After replacing the site map with another plugin then disabling and reactivating yoast’s site map it has started working again. I recommend disabling the site map feature and reactivate it and seeing if it fixes it for you.
I’m going to be hesitant doing updates from now on I think for this plugin.
It’s happening to everyone I think… Since the new update. I think it messed it up massively. Hopefully its fixed soon I’m looking for another plugin now, Anyone know how to backdate to previous version of the plugin?
