Seems the errors are caused by the update of Modern Events Calendar plugin, so I`ll redirect the question there.

Actually I found a solution for me – I had named the galleries in Cyrillic and obviously that caused a problem. Now pictures and thumbnails appear.
I uploaded .zip file with photos in gallery/galleryname/, extracted it and then had to import the gallery a few times until all the photos appear in NextGen – there is restriction in size of uploaded files, or something – I don’t know, but it worked like that.
