In reply to: Updating to WordPress 6.2 breaks my site!According to my host’s technical support, the problem stems from some core WP files being corrupted in some way. Site works just fine, so I don’t know what the corruption might be.
I’m not surprised at how this has gone – it’s very unusual when someone actually accepts responsibility for an issue. Usually the response is exactly what I’ve seen for this problem – everybody says “Not us!” and points elsewhere. In this case the host (GoDaddy) points at WP, and WP points at the host. Meanwhile the user is left stranded.
GoDaddy will have a developer-level support person try to find and fix the problem – for a significant fee.
My site is very basic. Considering the problems I’ve had that started with WP 6.0 (one of the ajax file churning and eating resources for no reason, so killing my ability to upload hi-res images, and for which I got no resolution – see https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/wordpress-6-0-is-a-mess/) and now this update issue and apparent corrupted WP core files, sadly, I think I’m going to have to start looking at alternatives to WP.

In reply to: WordPress 6.0 is a MESS!Hi George,
I did everything you suggested, and it still didn’t help. I finally just retrieved an older version of the page and got back all my formatting and the Page Builder editor.
I did post on the SiteOrigin forum, and they recommended pretty much the same thing you did.
Thanks for reply and suggestions. I’ll keep this thread bookmarked so when it happens again (and I’m sure it will, given that it’s WordPress 6) I’ll be able to find your response.Mark P.

In reply to: Large Media Upload Errors in 6.0Well, after ivestigating this rather thoroughly with the technical support folks at my hosting site, it’s clear that this problem is caused by a bug in WordPress 6.
ALL plugins were disabled and the problem persisted.
The images upload quickly (just as they always have) but now WordPress churns one of the ajax.php files (I can’t recall which one right now) over and over, chewing up server resources and screwing up the image upload pages.
The proof is that the problem appeared right after WordPress was updated.
Maybe a bit more regression testing in the future?
And I wonder when (if) this apparent bug will be fixed in the current version?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Large Media Upload Errors in 6.0Update:
I tried to do a single file upload using the browser’s built-in file uploader. It loaded, but also took a significant amount of time to do so. Apparently it takes about two minutes to establish a connection, and about another minute while the message at the bottom of the screen says it’s waiting for the site. I wind up on a “Page not found” screen in my site.
When I go back to the Media Library, the file is there.I had no problem until WordPress did the automatic update to 6.0.
Is there a way to go back to the previous version?

In reply to: Large Media Upload Errors in 6.0Thanks for the response!
The tutorial looks very interesting. It will take me awhile to digest it. Meanwhile…
I know the issue isn’t Sucuri CDN and the firewall, because those were just added two days ago. The problem began several weeks earlier.
I deactivated ALL plugins (including WordPress File Upload) and still had the problem. Could one of them be causing an issue even while deactivated?
I think I understand your third item, but for sure I don’t know how to do it. “Staging environment” seems almost self-explanatory, in a general sense. Porting the site over to another host is beyond me, but I’m sure a new host would help with all that kind of stuff. Would you happen to know if any of them offer a short term test environment?
Currently I’m using GoDaddy as my hosting site, and they’ve been very helpful in narrowing down what the problem is, though they can’t really help figure out what is triggering the problem.
The site is still usable, and I seem to be able to update it successfully, but uploading images with the aberrant behavior I’m seeing is cumbersome at best.
Again, thanks for your response.

In reply to: Page update failures and media bugNo. I normally use Page Builder, but when I changed to the standard editor, the behavior was exactly the same. Both editors showed revised content, but previews showed the non-revised content.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup not completingHi Bryle,
Thanks for the help. I discovered that my host provides an easy-to-use FTP backup capability, so I went with that. I’ll try UpdraftPlus in the future and reduce the split size as you mentioned. Thanks again – I do appreciate it!
