In reply to: change domain nameIs there another website that is more enthusiastic and less dead where I could ask my question? I kind of need to sort it.

In reply to: change domain nameI don’t even know how to explain it, it got so convoluted now.
I have to websites on wp with two different domains. What I want is to delete the new website and keep the domain for the old website and get rid of the old domain, rename it basically. New website had no content so I deleted the database, but now the domain is still live on wp it just says it can’t find database. I don’t now what to do. I follow the guide but after I change the old domain for the new I can no longer login into wp panel, as it redirects me to the new domain with the message that the database is missing. I think I messed up by creating a new website with the new domain.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: change domain nameI think I shouldn’t have created a new wp site with the new domain. Now that I have deleted the database the site with the new domain gives me an error that it cannot find the database duh because it is gone! I feel like I’m going in circles.

In reply to: change domain nameNow after changing the name I get the message “Error establishing a database connection”
Next step is to “download files again” but how if I cannot enter the wp dashboard?

In reply to: change domain nameOk I found another help file I think this is what I need:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/export-and-import-mysql-databases/Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: change domain nameThanks but this codex is vague at best. It says I need to export MySQL database. But on the host side or wp side? I can’t find it anywhere mentioned in the dashboard, nor I can export anything on the host side. Really really cryptic and not user friendly help.

In reply to: Front page gets renamed to “Home”So, I’ve been to wix.com – very neat but limited, and you have to pay for using your own domain and even a favicon. No thanks. I tried weebly as well, again you have to pay for all those things!
Guess I’m stuck with wordpress as the only solution. Oh the agony!
Anyway, while wandering around I managed to solve my problem, not the way I imagined but it did the trick.
What you have to do is go to appearance/menus/manage locations/
There just click on “use the menu” and that’s it…
I’ve stumbled on this trying to make a category page.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Front page gets renamed to “Home”Yeah… But this is only one of the many niggles I have.
Wordpress is just so confusing! I’ve added a couple of plugins and now everything got so bloated and convoluted.
I don’t see how people use wordpress without referring to professional(and expensive) help.
But what about the mere mortals, the laymen, the experimenters?
I’m thinking of starting again with a more user friendly service, or at least a service with an existing support. All I really wanted was to see how running a niche website would feel like.

In reply to: Front page gets renamed to “Home”Is this forum dead? I wonder… I still found no solution, no support, it’s like everyone are intentionally hiding from me until I flash the cash.

In reply to: Front page gets renamed to “Home”Thanks man. I’ve been all over google, lots of people had this problem, but the fixes either don’t work anymore or did not work in the first place…

In reply to: Front page gets renamed to “Home”That’s the thing, I’ve done all that and although the page technically is the shop page, the button for that page is still called Home. I need a way to override this silly script.
