Sorry for missing your last reply.
So as you suspected earlier, the issue was in fact on the host server side. Bluehost arbitrarily suspended all outbound HTTP connections due to receiving a false blacklist report regarding malicious content without my knowledge. It took them 3 days to confirm and fix this after contacting their support team.
After such a poor experiennce, I just took it upon myself to transfer my site to a different host server (SiteGround) and haven’t had any more problems since then.
The issue detailed in the OP is also resolved, but I still wanted to reply with my outcome in case someone else comes across this thread in the future seeking guidance.
Thank you again!
Thank you for providing further guidance.
I tried following the steps you suggested for health check & troubleshooting, but that still didn’t fix the issue.
That being said, I did notice:
- When I activated the plugin “Site Kit by Google – IPv4 Support Helper“, the error in Google Site Kit changed to “cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: analyticsdata.googleapis.com (see https://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html)“
- I was able to successfully set up the Google Site Kit on the disposable WP site that you shared with no issues.
Thank you for responding!
I have submitted my Site Health Information in the link you provided.
The issue suddenly started happening yesterday (it was working fine yesterday morning). I did speak with my hosting provider (Bluehost) as well to confirm if they saw an issue with the server or firewall for the website and they didn’t see anything on their end. The only changes I’ve made to the site recently is that I added a Firewall plugin (NinjaFirewall) and a Honeypot spam protector plugin (WP Armour).
I also tried:
*Deactivating & reactivating all of my plugins
*Uploading both of the mini-plugins that you shared
And neither of those solution resolve the issue either.
I did just notice that the Site Health page listed one critical issue that stated “The Rest API has encountered an error” with the exact same error message detailed in my OP. Could this be what’s preventing the Google Site Kit from working, and if so, what can be done to fix the issue?
