In reply to: Settings can't be changed for creating a new accountRight but every time I try to change the settings so a legitimate account and blog can be created and when I push the Save Changes button, the changes don’t take and suddenly it changes to the site’s home page.

In reply to: Settings can't be changed for creating a new accountApparently mod_security is not available with nginx web server, which is what I’m using.

In reply to: Settings can't be changed for creating a new accountI know I don’t. But I keep repeating the same thing. When I try to change the settings so an account and blog can be created and when I push the Save Changes button, the changes don’t take and suddenly it changes to the site’s home page.

In reply to: Settings can't be changed for creating a new accountActually it should be pointing to wp-register.php and when I try to change the settings so an account and blog can be created and when I push the Save Changes button, the changes don’t take and suddenly it changes to the site’s home page.
You mentioned Mod Security. I don’t have that. On the Network Admin Dashboard I have Better WP Security but on the main blog I have BPS Security and WSD Security. Do you think having so many security plug ins could be creating a conflict? If so which one(s) do I really need and which ones are unnecessary?

In reply to: Settings can't be changed for creating a new accountNo, from the homepage.

In reply to: Settings can't be changed for creating a new accountWell a mouseover of my Create A New Account link reveals that it’s pointing to wp-login.php. How would that have happened?

In reply to: Settings can't be changed for creating a new accountOh? I’ve been thinking it might be some sort of conflict with Jetpack or something.

In reply to: Can Facebook Comments be duplicated on a blog's main page?Ah. It is activated but I didn’t realize I needed to hook up the child sites individually too. Does each child site need its own new app information or will the original app info suffice for each child site?
This is the plugin I’m using.

In reply to: Did CloudFlare ruin my site? The first thing Dreamhost told me was that I needed to add “www” in front of towerofbabel.com in my wp-config.php file, which I did, and it didn’t solve anything.
Dreamhost threw up their hands at my dilemma a couple of days ago and suggested I “hire a WordPress expert” to fix my issues. Their last response to my tech support query:
“Well I tried. I really tried to fix it up (cloned another wp_options
database table so that wp-config was referencing something valid, added
the www to the siteurl and home values, played around with the wp-config file), but unfortunately, your customization of WordPress and your Multi-User setup are beyond the scope of our technical support team. I would suggest that you hire a WordPress expert in your area to assist you in fixing the site. If there’s anything that person needs us to do or any information we can provide that person, we will be happy to do so, but we simply cannot troubleshoot/repair your customized WordPress installation.”Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Did CloudFlare ruin my site?towerofbabel.com is my site.
Dreamhost became a partner of CloudFlare in April so I enabled it as soon as I learned about it.

In reply to: Did CloudFlare ruin my site?Hi Damon,
Thanks for joining in.
No, I have not contacted CloudFlare yet.
If I do have dueling redirects like you mention I have been unaware of it, ostensibly because, as I said, the service has worked fine for me since April.
Since I disabled CloudFlare for a couple of days and now have enabled it again I get this:
“Analytics data could not be loaded.
You do not have any initialized zones”
as well as this:
“Finishing up. Waiting for your name servers to change to pat.ns.cloudflare.com and rick.ns.cloudflare.com. Please allow up to 24 hours to complete this process (info)”
which has been there since last week when I enabled CF again.
I have no idea how to even get to the Page Rules interface. Where do I find it?

In reply to: Did CloudFlare ruin my site? Not yet because I don’t really think it’s a CloudFlare issue.
Actually, my site just came back up without my doing anything, so it was down for 8 days. But now I’m finding that even though the index page and other pages are fine, and I can get into the Dashboard, when I try to upgrade the installation to 3.4 or try to access the Network Admin Dashboard it just spins until I get this:
The page isn’t redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
