In reply to: More images in Upload-folder than I actually uploadedOK, thank you very much. I will dive into this. Will also try what happens when I go into the Media settings and set the small and medium images to ZERO. This could solve the issue, I guess.
Thanks again!

In reply to: More images in Upload-folder than I actually uploadedJust tried it again. 1 upload = 7 versions. Actually this is why I love to have control myself over the files I upload to the server.
The weird thing is that I only see the one I uploaded in the Media Library. The others I can only see in FileZilla. Once I delete the one in the Library they still show up in FTP. Even if I log in and out with FileZilla. If I then select them all and hit the delete-button and hit ‘yes’ FileZilla tells me that there is no such image found.
Weird. I don’t like that at all.

In reply to: About Site AddressI followed the steps for “Using a pre-existing subdirectory install” and when I saved the changes in the General Tab I was thrown out of the Admin-arera and the site looks like a mess.
Trying to restore everything now. Luckily I’ve made a complete site back-up beforehand.
Let me define the problem a little bit better, so everybody knows what’s happening (I hope this will be fixed in an upcoming update):
If you disable the WordPress-comments the FB comments will disapear either.
If you close the WP-comments after a period of time, it will not be possible to use the FB comments either. The result is that you have to keep the WP comments open forever if you want people to be able to use the FB comments.
This results in a bunch of spam in the WP comments as they are open too long. Of course the Askimet plug-in will catch them but it’s annoying to have to delete all the spam every day.

In reply to: Permalink settings are not available in WordPress 3.0Since I posted my good bye video on my blog the staff members and customer care managers are sending me e-mails.
In fact it was one arrogant staff member that screwed things up because he seemingly wasn’t very motivated to work on sunday. I would say look for another job then.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Just a blank page appearsThe e-mail conversation I had with them was already a breath of fresh air.

In reply to: Permalink settings are not available in WordPress 3.0Hi MacManX,
It seems that they find customers the most annoying part of the business. Today I move my new domain to A Small Orange and my problem domain will stop to exist.
Still, it is very hard to loose work of 2,5 years.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Just a blank page appearsHi MacManX,
I don’t have any plugin active. I just decided to give up the site entirely.
I have new blog project. Alas, I registered this new domain and hosting just last week by this same provider. The good thing is that I haven’t already worked on this new blog and I will move it right now to asmallorange.com before I start doing that.
I already talked to this guys and they really know what they are talking about. My current provider denies any support at this moment.

In reply to: Blank Permalink SettingsFor me it’s the installation of my hosting account. Everything works well on my other domain.

In reply to: Permalink settings are not available in WordPress 3.0I just see on another domain I have that everything is just working fine.
So it’s most likely the configuration of my hosting account that crashed recently. As my provider denies any further communication about that I think this is the right moment to move it to another provider.

In reply to: Permalink settings are not available in WordPress 3.0I did a clean install and now the only thing that’s on the permalink page is this:
“By default WordPress uses web URLs which have question marks and lots of numbers in them, however WordPress offers you the ability to create a custom URL structure for your permalinks and archives. This can improve the aesthetics, usability, and forward-compatibility of your links. A number of tags are available, and here are some examples to get you started.”
Nothing further. No options.
It’s WP 2.9.2 at this time.

In reply to: Just a blank page appearsMaybe I should make a clean setup and then just import the tables with posts and comments for a start.

In reply to: Just a blank page appearsThe funny thing is if I go to CPanel and have a look at MySQL databases it still says that the database is 0,4 MB

In reply to: Just a blank page appearsHi MacManX,
First off: I just contacted this little orange provider 🙂
Second: restoring via CPanel resulted in a page that said ‘Restoring database’ and doing nothing.
Import of the file in PhpAdmin resulted in an error and not filling the database.I don’t understand what you mean with droping the database table.
Thank you so much for your replies! I really appreciate that.
Now I’m going to sleep.Good night!
