Hi @psandeep,
Is that a recent image? We ask as it’s possible that Google indexed that image when it could be found on the homepage, which would explain this issue.
If this is the case, it is only a matter of time until Google will update that image’s link accordingly.
Thank you for getting back to us. The memory limit seems high enough.
Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:
1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled. (skip if both of you have already done so)
2. Check for conflicts. Does the issue persist when only Yoast SEO and Divi are active?
3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console. If you find any, please take a screenshot of them and share it here.Hi Giulio,
Sorry for the late reply. I have tried replicating the same title and it has worked as expected: https://i.imgur.com/RYYZvTJ.png
The issue is likely related to your particular setup, I have tried to use this title on 3 different websites and couldn’t replicate this issue.
Hi David,
Are you saying that the dropdown buttons do not work? If so, this sounds like a JavaScript error. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:
1. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.
2. Check for conflicts. If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers.
Hi @jasonb4u2,
We’re sorry to hear you experienced these issues after updating Yoast SEO Premium.
We understand that you’re using the premium version, please note that ww.wp.xz.cn forums are for the free version only.
For any issues you might experience with the premium version, please send us an email at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to further investigate this issue and provide you with a solution.
In addition, please also update to 7.8.1, the latest update contains a bugfix regarding not being able to save the changes made in the snippet editor.
Hi @wci,
Thanks for following up.
We have inspected the source of this page and noticed that there are 2 title tags: https://i.imgur.com/T62o4nT.png
It seems to be an issue on all your pages, you have 2 titles tags. One of them is not generated by Yoast SEO, it would be best to find out which plugin (or your theme) is doing this and remove the extra title tag.
Regarding the titles shown in Google being different than the ones you have set, we have inspected the URLs which you have provided and noticed that the title tags match what you have set in Yoast SEO.
If you have recently made these changes, it is possible that Google has not updated its index and is still showing an outdated title. In this case, we recommend waiting up to 2 weeks then check again if the titles have been updated.
If the changes are not recent, then it means that Google has decided to ignore your title and replace it with a different one. Unfortunately, in this case, there’s not much you can do other than try again with a new title, hopefully Google will consider the next one better suited.
As a comparison, Bing seems to have indexed your URL with the correct title. That being said, search engines are getting the correct meta data (such as titles) from your website, but it’s up to them if they want to use that or replace it with something else.
Hi @wp-lab-support,
Please also check if the issue persists when using a different browser. We ask as the load time you are experiencing should match the one from Query Monitor, it seems like your browser is still loading something after the actual WordPress page has been loaded.
We are looking forward to your reply.
@daro2013, the screenshot which you have sent us shows the URL of your website in the snippet editor, that is not part of the title. The snippet editor shows a visual of how that page would look in the search engines, the URL of your website is displayed right under the title.
The exact title of your page generated by Yoast SEO is: This is my home page for SEO – 45kjdsa4e. The URL under the title is just a graphic representation of how your website would look in the search engine results pages, it is not actually part of the title.
@loscamos there is nothing wrong with your title (the actual page title, not what’s displayed in Google results), it is working as expected.
However, you cannot force search engines to use the title or meta description which you have chosen. Google tries to deliver the best user experience, so if it believes that adding the URL of your website to the end of your title is beneficial, it will continue to do this no matter what you may do.
You may try to write a longer title, so that there is not enough space left for the website URL too, but there is no way to be sure if this will work.
Hi @davidchapman1,
Please check if the homepage address (Site Address) in Settings → General is without a trailing slash, such as: https://mywebsite.com
If your homepage is set as above (without a trailing slash), and your permalink structure ends with a slash (in Settings → Permalinks), then it’s likely that there is a canonical tag on https://mywebsite.com (without a trailing slash) to https://mywebsite.com/ (with the trailing slash).
The scenario mentioned above could explain the warning why your homepage is not getting indexed (because https://mywebsite.com and https://mywebsite.com/ are considered different URLs), and only one the version with the trailing slash would get indexed.
Please check if this is the case and let us know.
Hi Lauren,
I’ve checked the URL which you have provided and noticed that there are 2 og:image tags, which might be causing the issue: https://i.imgur.com/Uq05PYY.png
The first tag is not generated by Yoast SEO. Does that tag have the incorrect image (i.e. featured image)?
If so, then the issue is not related to Yoast SEO. Some other plugin or your WordPress theme is adding the first og:image tag. We recommend performing a conflict check, to determine which other plugin (or the theme) is adding that tag.
To find out, after deactivating all plugins as in this guide, re-activate them one at a time, until you find out which one is adding that tag.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or need any help.
@kathelen if your issue is similar, please share a URL here where you’re experiencing this issue and we’ll be happy to check it out.
Hi @kevinpowertv,
Are you using the latest version of Yoast SEO, 7.8? If no, please update and check again.
Additionally, please note that Facebook is caching URLs which have been previously posted. This means they will not check your URLs for changes until their cache expires, even though you may have made the correct changes in Yoast SEO.
In order to force Facebook to clear the cache of a URL, please submit it to their Sharing Debugger and click the Scrape Again button several times. After you have done this, you can try sharing your URL on Facebook again and it should show the updated Open Graph tags.
Does this fix your issue?
Hi @oneclicklca,
An issue similar to yours was reported in the past here.
However, this issue has been fixed by the team at Divi in version 3.8.1. Can you confirm that you are using Divi 3.8.1 or newer?
Hi @aaron843,
Are you experiencing this issue with Yoast SEO 7.8? I have just tested using the focus keyword “sepia-toned photograph” and the analysis of Yoast SEO seems to be correct, it detects correctly all uses of the focus keywords (in the content, title, meta description, slug).
You can see the results here: https://i.imgur.com/nzVfeZg.png
Additionally, can you confirm that you are using hyphens both in the focus keyword and in your text? For example, using dashes in the content would explain why it’s not recognized.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi @jenkins12,
We have inspected your website’s XML sitemap for attachments and noticed that all URLs are now serving a 410 redirect, which is the expected behavior when using the Search Index Purge plugin.
This is the intended behavior and the fastest solution to removing the attachment pages from Google’s index. Unfortunately, there is nothing else to do at this point except for Google to update its index and remove the attachment pages from it.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or need any help.
Hi Giulio,
Thanks for following up. Please check if the issue persists when Yoast SEO and WooCommerce are the only plugins activated.
I have tried to replicate this issue locally but was not able, the %%page%% variable worked as expected in my test: https://i.imgur.com/xOt4thv.png
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
