    Thanks Bas. That fixed it.

And a note to non-expert WordPress users. If your version is not up to date, then apparently WordPress protects your website by not allowing you to do a bulk update of your plugins. Probably because this helps control incompatibilities which might arise if you have plugin versions that are newer than your WordPress version.

I found I needed to deactivate all my plugins on a couple of my websites in order to get a notification that there was a newer version of WordPress. For some reason, on these 2 websites, it has been telling me WordPress 4.4.4 was up to date and the current version, which as of now (June 2018) is not even close!

Once I did the bulk plugin deactivation, then I was able to update WordPress. I then went back in and reactivated the recently deactivated list of plugins (it will tell you which ones, a nice feature). Then, the bulk update worked on them.

This is a nuance that probably isn’t obvious to many casual users. Thought I’d share my ignorance.

I used to have a list of the buttons and now this Snaggy link/screen capture (see link) is what the screen looks like (the same “nothing” is on all my websites, so I think there is some sort of incompatibility — I sure hope I don’t have to play the “turn off all your plugins etc and add them back one at a time” game)
