Just a note for anyone else who had this issue, I think I had deleted the logo and/or favicon from the media library but I had to ‘remove’ them in the (appearance -> customise -> logo & favicon) menu too!
Such a simple little thing!

Thanks for the reply, not quite. I mean that the actual text has a drop shadow. Though loking at other peoples’ sample sites it seems it’s not an issue so it might be something in my settings rather than customizr.
