That said, customers should at the very least be informed in some way, whether by email, social media, or a pop-up on the website. At the moment, we are left completely in the dark, which is simply not acceptable. I do hope that this approach will become faster and more professional going forward.
Anyway. The issue I have been dealing with for longer than expected is the following:
I am using WP Compress on a client’s website (forzaninove.be/wp-content/staging). When “image optimization” is enabled, the website stops loading JPG and PNG files. These images are not displayed at all. Only WebP images are shown correctly.
After some testing, I found that the “use picture tags” option appears to be causing the issue. I have temporarily disabled this option, after which the website is once again able to load and display JPG and PNG images correctly. I have also disabled the beta features “optimize LCP images” and “smart AVIF images” for the time being.
Is this a known issue? And if so, what would be the recommended long-term solution?
