In reply to: Canonical for homepage pagination not correcthi @bcworkz
If I add /page/2/ to any of my competitors homepage’s using WordPress it loads the homepage as a pagination.
Anyhow, I was able to resolve my issue by switching my WordPress homepage to static and using Yoast. The pagination is still there, as it is on all other websites I tested, but the canonical is now correct pointing back to the main homepage instead of self referencing.

Hi @maybellyne
Actually I resolved this myself. If you have your WordPress homepage setup as “static” then canonicals work as intended with yoast, which is not self referencing. As self referencing pages of a duplicate homepage is not correct – they should only self reference if the paginated pages have unique content on them like an author archive.
If you switch the WordPress homepage to dynamic then yoast gives self referencing canonicals for pagination as it assumes the content will be unique from dynamic blog posts.
I did not split test if WordPress is doing this or Yoast, but either way it’s one of the two.
For anybody else experiencing this issue, we have Google support helping us here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/25610

Thats great thanks!
Any way I can stop the screen from zooming in when I click the magnifying glass on mobile?
Also, when I click the magnifying glass to close the search its very difficult to close. Can we make it easier to click on put an X only for mobile?
Thanks
Hi Vinod,
Yes this is already enabled.
I have used some of your custom CSS from previous posts to fix the look on desktop.
But the search on mobile is not looking so nice, the search box is too large and zooms in, the magnifying glass gets covered by the search box also. I also would like to move the magnifying glass to align with the menu nicer on mobile.
Thanks
