I cannot reproduce the solution here – sites that had created & sent backups without issues before stopped sending when I upgraded to BWPS 3.5.5 [sic]. The affected sites (running WP 3.6) show the behavior reported in the originial post of this thread.
+1, same error here using bwps 3.5.5 on multiple sites running wp 3.6
