For now I’ve migrated to reCAPTCHA v3, setup was really easy and the problem is gone now. Still might be worth looking into what Really Simple CAPTCHA was doing – is there a public code repository I could check out?

https://studio22.hr/en/contact/ but as I said https://contactform7.com/captcha/ has the same extra call, just that it doesn’t block the page from loading.
