In reply to: Multisite Language Switcher: just flags instead of entire widget? Thanks Dennis – these links are too technical for me, but I’ve noted them and will try to find someone who knows their WP CSS and can do this for me 🙂
Much appreciated!

In reply to: Multisite Language Switcher: just flags instead of entire widget?Aha – just worked out that I can just delete the title! 🙂
That’s a step in the right direction. Could someone please hold my hand and tell me exactly what CSS to write (and where exactly to find it) to:
a) make the flag bigger, so I can use just the flag, i.e. without the text and the white background?
b) put the flag ideally in the top menu, on the right hand side, or otherwise in the top right of the header? Many, many thanks again! 🙂
Best wishes

In reply to: Changing domain displayed in address bar – newbieAh, don’t know, will check. The plugin itself works/’switches on’ (i.e. the options are available within WP), but they don’t actually do anything. Perhaps it is indeed the wrong version. Thanks, will check.
In the meantime, I managed to sort out the issue with a mass SQL dump and edit of domain.old to domain.new – I’m still amazed I didn’t make everything crash and burn… 🙂
Thanks to all for your help.

In reply to: Changing domain displayed in address bar – newbieHi BackuPs 🙂
Thanks for your reply. I have this plugin but:
– for whatever reason it doesn’t seem to work i.e. it doesn’t let me add or map domains
– as far as I can understand from forum posts it only allows to change e.g.:graphene.nazwa.pl/site1 to site1.com
graphene.nazwa.pl/site2 to site2.comwhere I need to change:
graphene.nazwa.pl to graphenepartners.com
any further ideas here?
Thanks again, best wishes

In reply to: Changing domain displayed in address bar – newbieHi Jan
Thanks for your reply; I can only agree with your first comment 🙂
It appears that in my MU installation, those options aren’t available 🙁
I started off with a single-site installation and found some htaccess rules which appeared to help with what I wanted, along the lines of:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.)?graphenepartners\.com.pl [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.graphenepartners.com/$1 [R=301,L](as I have multiple domains and wanted everything to display as http://www.graphenepartners.com)
but then I took all the highly complex steps related to moving to MU (including mucking around in SQL which I never dreamed I would be able to do without wiping everything out and bringing down NASA and the CIA in the process). Since that time the functionality I need just doesn’t work – all my domains redirect to graphene.nazwa.pl
I tried using the above rule to redirect graphene.nazwa.pl to graphenepartners.com but got an error saying the request would never complete (as I imagine this created an endless loop of redirects)
I also tried changing domain_current_site to graphenepartners.com in wpconfig.php, but that threw up an error as well.
The site works, of course, so I’m basically happy enough. But I’m sure there are loads of uber-specialists out there that can sort this out faster and easier than I can make a cup of coffee…!
All the best, thanks again
Adam
of course 🙂
thanks a lot, best wishes
Adamahhhh… doesn’t work since WP installation is not in root directory 🙁
Hopefully I’m not going to find out that moving the entire functioning site to the root directory will be a major hassle…! Any advice? Thanks again, best wishes

Phenomenal! Many, many thanks for all your help 🙂
Have a great Christmas!
AdamProbably 🙂
Just to be sure I have explained myself properly, the functionality I need is:
– the user types in e.g. http://www.graphenepartners.com
– this leads them to my existing WP multisite, where the site address ends in /wordpress or /wordpress/polish, depending on which language they are viewing.
– I would like the URL which the user sees in their browser window to be http://www.graphenepartners.com, irrespective of what the real web address actually is.Will the plugin you mentioned do the trick?
Best wishes
AdamHi, many thanks for the reply.
Before switching to multisite, I used htaccess to ‘change’ (sorry for non-technical word) the URL so that the page visitor, instead of seeing http://www.graphene.nazwa.pl/wordpress, saw the web address they had typed, which is http://www.graphenepartners.com
I saw some forum posts which said that this changing via htaccess is not possible using multisite, but hopefully you are going to tell me there is no problem to use htaccess with your wonderful plugin…
Many thanks, best wishes

I’ve just come through a similar issue. Not sure if the resolution is the same. In my case, as an absolute beginner with web page building, I found out how small details matter – I installed the .mo files to /wp-content/Languages instead of …/languages. Once I renamed the folder, it all worked beautifully.
Hope that helps, good luckAdam

In reply to: [Graphene] [Theme: Graphene] Multisite multilanguageThanks, solved the issue and found out that installing into wp-content/Languages isn’t the same as …./languages. Bloody hell… 🙂
Now just need to figure out how to easily change column width…
Many thanks and congratulations to the developers!

Phenomenal – many thanks, that’s perfect!
Best wishes, merry Christmas.
