Thanks for investigating further!
I think my deleting was actually working, it just kept getting replaced with the other folders of the same name (I do remember seeing many duplicated folder names and I never got around to figuring out where they came from). So it deleted and deleted until it finally got to the original category with the same name. I meant to say I deleted after re-activating WF.
I just used the filter URLs generated from clicking on an Author in the Post page to do what I needed to do.
Thanks for troubleshooting this with me! I was able to delete the categories after deactivating WF and when I did the correct categories, with the correct post counts, showed up! I’ll never know what caused it but it seems like I’m the only one who experienced it anyway so it’s all good.
Thanks for taking a look, I just sent in the form
Made a brand new administrator and I’m experiencing the same issue. It also won’t let me delete the categories (I’ve given up and I want to start from scratch, but I need those slugs specifically and they won’t delete.)
Yes. I think they are greyed out when every plugin is deactivated because of whatever Wicked Folders turned it into

Nothing changes when I switch to Twenty-Twenty-Five.
I don’t see permission settings at all. Here’s my WF settings page: https://ibb.co/4ZkzcXfF
This is what happens when I turn off every plugin: https://ibb.co/Gf89XsSv
The other categories never broke and seem to be working fine. You can see on my live site that the post count for the news, blog and success stories should be much higher: https://ibb.co/V0jhhWFb
I have 4.10.0 installed. Screenshot: https://ibb.co/7JLPCcbg
I did try when this started 2 weeks ago. I will try again right now. I got some other category glitches where they greyed out when I turned off WF but those couldn’t be traced to any plugin.
Also noticed it’s happening on the front-end. You can see the URL when you hover over the categories above the title here: https://www.staging13.meda.org/news/the-backyard-garden-now-growing-rental-income-ruths-path-to-financial-independence/
The URL is locked by the way:

Hi,
Thank you both for your feedback. When I turned off all plugins, I did turn them on one by one. The problem only occurs when they are all on so it might be a conflict of 2 specific plugins, however it wasn’t Modern Events Calendar or Health Check (which were the first ones I turned off because of the error message). Howver with ever plugin turned off and WordPress 2025 activated, the error persists so that’s why I’m not convinved it’s soley a plugin issue.
I turned on debug mode intentionally to try and see what plugin was causing the issue with the blog posts.
I gave it a couple of days to see if any new updates solved the problem, and in a way it did, the blog posts are showing however they have almost all been unlinked from their categories, and the links to categories are redirecting to WickedFolder filter links instead. Where I’m getting an error message that I don’t have permission to see the page even though I’m an admin. I’ll reach out to the WickedFolder team and hopefully get to the bottom of this.
I appreciate your time.

Hello, following up on this.
Thanks for the idea, unfortunately that also didn’t work
