    Yes, that works, thank you.

    I replaced “kubrickbgcolor.jpg” with the hex code custom colour used on the rest of the page.

    And thanks for “vertically tiled graphic”. Makes all the difference when searching for help to know what things are called!

    Update: well, everything works fine on my other blog which will be the French-language version. I had thought I’d get the .com (English) blog working first…

    So I suspect the .com prob is a security issue. I’ll get on to my host about it.

    Thanks esmi. I want to change the page background and font colours, as stated in original post.

    My point is that on the other pages I’ve made changes and they appear on the refreshed blog page.

    When I make changes to the CSS, NOTHING HAPPENS, although the admin software says the changes have been successful.

    The style.css file in what I hope is called in English the Control Panel. I can edit the files in the list above it.

    The code is given in the French version of “WordPress for Dummies”. E.g here:

    #page {
    background-color: white;
    border: 1px solid #959596;
    text-align: left;

    I replaced the word “white” with the hexadecimal code f5cba5
