I maybe see where the issue is: if I choose any option to be added to the composite product (like for example the filters as in your test), the coupon doesn’t apply nor to the “main” product or the component. If I only put the “main” product in the cart, without components, the discount applies. Is there a way to exclude that too?
In the plugin settings have the option exclude coupons both on composite and components selected, but apparently it only apply if a component is actually added.

Yes, it was created using Woocommerce >> Marketing. Actually it worked last month (I had several composite products for Xmas) but I noticed the exclusion has stopped working recently.
Btw, I just upgraded to Woocommerce 9.6 but it’s still not working.
