Thank you for your reply. I tried this on a different site with the same SSL plugin and didn’t encounter the redirect issue. I suspect it was related to a different plugin (one to password protect the entire site until it was ready).

Experiencing the exact same issue. The way around it I have found is to do the following:
Set the Subcategory’s display type to be: Subcategories
Assign at least one product to this subcategory
Assign all other products to the Sub-subcategory (where you actually want it)This way it doesn’t list the product under the subcategory, but displays the link to the sub sub category.

This cured the issue for me.
