I had same issue 2 weeks ago. I’ve tried several captcha plugins and none of the worked for me. The only plugin that’s working is GoodBye Captcha. Contact the author and I am sure he will help you with CF7.

I had the same issue with my site, lots of spam, but since I installed goodbyecaptcha everything was blocked by this plugin.
Besides the fact that blocks the spambots I have no captcha on my widget. That’s amazing!
I think that the author of MailChimp for WordPress should specify somewhere, at least in FAQ page, that there is such plugin that offers protection for spambots without using captcha image.
